Pupils and teachers at Pipers Hill Community National School are celebrating the award of Excellence in Discover Primary Science and Maths, for an unprecedented third year in a row. This adds to the three Young Scientist awards for this four year old school.
Over the year, the students worked with their teachers to develop their investigative, observation, questioning, analysing and recording skills.
The curiousity of these bright, intelligent children was satisfied with group work and team building. Every class in the school from infants up participated in the project and in maintaining the log which was submitted.
Awarded by the Science Federation of Ireland in conjunction with the DES, the awarding committee paid tribute to the students when they wrote “the standard of log books and the wide variety of science and maths work being done is very impressive”. Children from the senior ‘Eagles’ class are pictured here celebrating and are already planning for next year.
