Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board (KWETB) are making an application for Patronage of the New Primary School for Greystones. The school is due to open its doors in September 2015. KWETB must show that there is a need and parental demand for a primary school in the area under its patronage.
In order for KWETB to evidence parental demand we ask you to logon to www.kwetb.ie, click ‘New School Greystones’ and complete the data form. The closing date for gathering support from parents is the 17th of March 2015.
KWETB has a long history of providing solid and progressive education services in Counties Wicklow and Kildare. We have a vast understanding of the communities we serve. We provide educational expertise, facility services, information technology and administrative services locally to our schools all in partnership with Department of Education and Skills and other national bodies.
KWETB has a passion for providing education that is top quality, relevant, that meets and supersedes Department of Education and Skills set curriculum. Our mission puts student welfare, growth and happiness at the heart of school activities. All this is provided in an environment that is inclusive, respectful of all beliefs (faith and non-faith), co-educational, secure and one that actively encourages parental partnerships.
Our preferred model of new primary school for Greystones is a Community National School. A Community National School is just as it says ‘founded in the local communities’. These schools are child centred, inclusive of all, state supported schools which strive to provide high quality education for every child. The CNS has as a core part of their curriculum a belief nurturing programme called ‘Goodness me Goodness You’ taught during the school day which caters for all faiths and none seewww.gmgy.ie. This modern model of primary school was first introduced in 2008, to date there are 9 schools running successfully with Department of Education support and approval. In September 2010 KWETB established Naas Community National School. The school started with 6 children and today there are over 220 students and growing. For more information on the CNS model please go to www.cns.ie.
